On the 6th of August 2009 the Lafia convention signaled the take off of the convention
season with a bang as members of the FGBMFI from Niger, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi,
Kano, Katsina, Niger, Kogi, FCT and the Host State of Nassarawa converged at the
newly completed beautiful Civic Hall built by the Nassarawa State Government.
The Convention kicked off at 6.00 pm on the evening of the 6th with an opening rally
at the Convention venue.
The opening rally which was well attended had the Deputy Governor of the State,
who stood in for the Governor, in attendance, as the Governor was unavoidably absent.
He was accompanied by an entourage made up of key members of the State Executive
Council. The convention was declared open with a beautiful ceremony. In addition
the Deputy Governor was made an honorary Life

member of
the FGBMFI The opening rally had Bishop David Abioye as the main Speaker and he
signaled a great outpouring of the Spirit of God upon the convention. The three
evening rallies witnessed a great harvest of souls and had Mr Tony Ewelike, International
Director and CEO of AG HOMES PLC as the second day Rally Speaker while Bro Gbile
Akanni took the closing rally.
The convention featured wonderful teaching sessions on Thursday and Friday
and the teachers included Bishop Abioye, Mazi Ohuabunwa, Dr Ferdinand Nweke and
Mrs Helen Falope. They were really enriching. The convention featured certain key
highlights with 2 Convention Luncheons on Friday afternoon while Saturday 8th August
had a Strategic Luncheon and a Ladies outreach Luncheon. These four Convention outreacehes
were very effective with good attendance from town and a sizeable number not only
gave their lives to Christ and applied for membership. One other key feature of
the Lafia Convention was the use of MARKET Place Outreach strategy with Outreaches
holding in various eateries across the City of Lafia . This indeed was extremely
successful setting the standard for subsequent conventions. In all there were 24
such outreaches with 15 luncheons on the 7th August 2009 while 9 Breakfast meetings
held on Saturday the 8th August 2009. The meetings which had an average attendance
of 25 per meeting recorded 220 Salvations; many received the Baptism of the Holy
Ghost and applied for membership. The Convention was very encouraging and set the
stage for a wonderful season of Conventions. Next Up Jalingo. |
